S3 Course Content

This course is made up of 5 sections along with two main assessments. The tests link the Magnetism, Electricity and Electronics sections together and then separately the second test links Density & Kinetic Theory with Space.

MAGNETISM

In this area, the topics covered are: magnetic poles, magnetic fields, magnetic materials, electromagnetism and the use of magnets. 

ELECTRICITY

In this area, the topics covered are: introduction to electricity, measuring current, bulbs and current, batteries and current, current in series circuits, current in parallel circuits, measuring voltage, voltage in series circuits.

ELECTRONICS

In this area, the topics covered are: electronic systems, input devices, output devices and process devices.

DENSITY & KINETIC THEORY

In this area, the topics covered are: density, volume, solids, liquids & gases, kinetic theory of gases, gas pressure, temperature of a gas and gas laws.

SPACE

In this area, the topics covered are: telescopes, electromagnetic spectrum, observing the universe and space exploration.
